Prof Balagurusamy is currently the Chairman of EBG Foundation, Coimbatore. He also serves as a Member of High Level Committee on School Education of Tamil Nadu Government and Chairman of Committee for Development of Text Books on Science and Technology in Higher Education. He served as a Member (Education), Planning Commission of Tamil Nadu Government for two years from July, 2011.
Published more than 30 papers in International Journals, Seminars and Conferences in the area of Systems Engineering and Information Technology and Research thesis on Reliability Engineering. Guided more than 100 MBA and PGDCS project works, 5 Ph.D. scholars and 14 M. Techstudents.
Developed over 10 Modules/Monographs in wide ranging areas from basic computer concepts to human relations and project management. Trained more than 1,000 engineering teachers, 700 company executives and 300 Indian Administrative Service officials
Written over 40 books in various IT topics for leading publishers, edited 6 publications in major IT themes and prepared blueprint reports for the establishment of higher education institutions. Many of his books are prescribed as texts in universities and colleges throughout India. Considered as Asia’s leading author in programming.
An able academic administrator and leader. Created, administrated and led a number of institutions including Anna University, to Centers of Excellence. Brought in innovative methods and systemic
procedures in administration, admissions, examinations and teaching/learning processes.
Established several Centers ofExcellence and built & developed Institutions from concept level. Examples are UNDP Computer Centre at TTTI Bhopal, NIIT, APTS at Hyderabad, Computers & IT Division at Institute of Public Enterprise Hyderabad, PSG Institute of Management at Coimbatore, MATS Deemed University at Bangalore, and a large number of Academic and Research Centers at Anna University.
Starting from 1969, has held various teaching positions and taught subjects ranging from IT topics to management topics. Development of courses and curricula, evolving methodologies for teacher development and faculty improvement and evolution of new training methodologies are integral elements of his work.
